  My family and I had a wonderful lunch at Dolce Vita. The service was friendly and attentive. Our server gave us great suggestions on what to order (he was so happy to customize our dishes) and we all loved our meals that no one left a bite.
  They have many tasty gluten-free options as well.
  I highly recommend everyone pay a visit to this gem in the north end. You will not be disappointed.

  Amazing authentic Italian food BUT...
  
  I have been to place countless times in the past and have always have great experiences. The experience I had last night was nothing short of repulsing. The rude and passive aggressive waiter and showered by the senior wait staff ruined the meal. Not only was our server rude, he made it obvious none of the staff wanted us there for whatever reason. Last night was the last time I will be recommending this place to a friend for "good food and good service" because apparently they only have of those things. I would give them one star for the service if it wasn't for the food which was good.

  Pick another place!! I really felt scammed here! The other reviews are correct- the owner asks if you want bruschetta or garlic bread and then charges you! Such a rip off too($6.95!) there was a long wait and multiple people made eye contact with me and did not acknowledge us. I still decided to stay and give this place a try.
  
  We ordered chicken Parmesan, stuffed shells, and fettuccine Alfredo. Food was average- nothing special. The bread we got tasted like Texas toast- yuck.
  
  I think the worst part of this experience was the fact that the bowl of Parmesan cheese from our table was dumped back into the large supply box on the counter where he was serving new guests! He reused the Parmesan cheese!! So nasty. I would never return here!

  Late on a Monday evening and after walking all day, I had a hankering for a Limoncello in the North End of Boston.  So we kept on walking all the way to Hanover Street, and I allowed my beau to randomly choose which restaurant we'd sip at.  He couldn't have chosen it any better!  We only wanted to sip a Limoncello, but ended up staying a bit longer for a glass of their excellent selection of red wines (sorry, I don't remember the name of the red we drank).  Proprietor, Franko, made the evening extra special by chatting with us and warmly and enthusiastically asked us if we'd like to sample the Pistachio Limoncello too, which was creamy and delicious.  We didn't have dinner here, but based on our short but sweet experience here, the next time we are in Boston we will definitely come back to Dolce Vita for a full evening.  Thank you Franko for the memories and for making our evening so special.

  This restaurant is located in a super location on Hanover street. Positives and Negatives:
  
  Positives:
  - excellent food in Italian section. Avoid specials, see below.
  - nice Italian older musician playing and singing Italian music on accordion.
  
  Negatives:
  - Non-iItalian atmosphere and staff. We go and pay top dollar in a supposed Italian food district, and not one employee is Italian, nor has the training or savvy of making one feel the Italian experience.
  - staff expertise equivalent to Applebee's or pizzeria Uno style. Not experienced in proper wine opening, pouring wine, removing plates/silverware/glasses, seating guests, handing and taking back menus, etc.
  - trouble with specials: Octopus was supposed to be soft and and amazing according to server. It's arrived and was all the stomach sack, no legs. Chewy and hard, not soft how it was explained to us. When the comment was made to waiter, no offer to discount or remove cost from menu.
  - "special" super Tuscan wine cost $59. We did label search and it was a 8.99 bottle wine at local store. Normal mark up for wine is 2-3 times, not 7-8 times. Wine was cheap and disappointing for a special occasion. If owner reads this, please invest in your wines and don't take advantage of your guests!
  
  Hope this helps others. I am not trying to hurt the business or be negative. It's just that my wife and I only get out for this type pricey dinner once per year, and hope it would be extraordinary at this price (over $200 for 2 with tip).
